Omni’s not just the storage solution of your dreams anymore — We’re the easiest way to lend and borrow whatever you need, too.

Today, we invite you to download the latest version of the Omni app and behold! We have officially launched the ability to lend your items to friends, directly from your Omni account — we take care of the delivery, and pickup when they’ve finished using your items.

How it works:

Have a friend expecting some out of town guests? Let them borrow that air mattress you’ve stored. Got a neighbor with a home improvement project? Lend them the power tools from your Omni account. It’s easy:

Select an item you’d like to lend to a friend. On that item’s details screen, tap “Lend to a friend.” If you want to lend multiple items, tap “Add items” and select as many others as you’d like. When all of your items have been selected, tap “Select a friend.”

Omni will ask permission to access your contacts, which is necessary for you to select the person who will receive your items. Search and/or select the contact’s name. If the person is not saved in your contacts, you can simply type their phone number into the field.

Next, review the details and write a note to the recipient if you like. Tap confirm, and you’re done! Your friend will receive a text message notifying them that you’ve loaned them an item from Omni.

Your friend (the borrower) can see and access the items you’ve loaned, or return them to you if they’ve changed their mind. When they’re done using your items, they schedule a pickup, and we go collect them — we’ll let you know as soon as they’ve been checked back into your account. Boom.

Lend items to anyone, anywhere.

With Omni remote check-outs, you can even loan items to friends outside of San Francisco — they can arrange for delivery how and whenever it’s convenient for them. They can return items using remote check-ins, so your things go right back to Omni when they’re finished, ready for your next adventure.

It doesn’t cost anything to lend items to friends — just like a regular check-out and delivery, there are always free delivery options for recipients when they’re ready to have your things brought over. For speedier deliveries, fees start around $2.00.
